The creative thread that has run through my life
The name AMMO comes from my full name: Anne Michelle Myrick Olsen.
What began as a simple name for the business I created to sell my paintings eventually became home to much more — art, music, writing and some of the creative projects that have marked different chapters of my life.
Creativity has been with me for as long as I can remember.
I’ve been a singer and songwriter for decades. I began painting later in life. Writing eventually became another way to explore and make sense of my experiences.
And somewhere along the way, I realized that none of these creative practices were separate from the work I was doing around self-awareness.
They were part of it.
Creativity has taught me to pay attention
Painting, writing and music have often helped me understand something before I could fully explain it.
A painting might reveal an emotion.
A song might give language to an experience.
A story might help me see the meaning I had attached to something years earlier.
That discovery eventually influenced the way I began using creativity in my coaching and teaching as well.
For me, creativity isn’t only about making something beautiful.
It is also a way of noticing.

They are simply different ways I explore the same things: experience, meaning, awareness, connection and what it means to become more fully ourselves.
